AI & Data Science

The AI and Data Science sector covers companies that develop computer programmes that aim to solve difficulties and achieve goals within the world, just as well as, if not better than, humans. The UK is leading in AI with a significant amount of research being conducted across major universities and at the Alan Turing Institute.

Within the data science field, scientific methods, algorithms, processes and systems are used to glean knowledge and insights from both structured and unstructured data, and apply knowledge and insights from data spanning a wide range of application domains. Companies within this field identify ways whereby they can enable machines to extract this knowledge and insight without the requirement for human intervention, opening up innovative ways for data exploration.

The University of Edinburgh’s Bayes Centre is the innovation hub for Data Science and Artificial Intelligence and offers a gateway to thought leadership in these subjects.
