About Us

EIE is an Investor Readiness Programme that offers the most advanced start-ups and scale-ups the opportunity to undergo an intensive programme to make them investor ready. This programme culminates at our technology investor showcase, where we bring together our cohort of incredible companies with international investors.

At our yearly conference you’ll have the opportunity to hear our cohort make their pitches for investment, but the conference offers much more!

At the International Market Square we have a wide variety of businesses present, with networking opportunities and an AI driven curated matchmaking service. You have the opportunity for meaningful conversations that matter with thought leaders from across EIE’s ten sectors.

Internationally renowned speakers from government, business and the tech sector are all a part of EIE, offering keynote, fireside and in depth conversations, to deal with some of the most pressing issues facing our sectors today.

EIE is delivered by The Bayes Centre, the University of Edinburgh’s innovation hub for data science and artificial intelligence.

The Bayes Centre offers a new kind of collaborative, multidisciplinary proving ground where innovative technological solutions are developed for the benefit of society. EIE sits perfectly within Bayes reflecting its multidisciplinary technological approach to problem solving by having a cohort made up of innovative start-ups from 10 different sectors:

  • AI and Data Science
  • Creative Design and Media Tech
  • Energy, Climate and CleanTech
  • Fintech and Cyber Security
  • Internet of Things
  • One Health
  • Robotics and Autonomy
  • Satellites and SpaceTech
  • Smart Cities and Mobility
  • Tourism and Festivals

The Bayes Centre’s expertise within business development is shown by its drive to create and run programmes which support cutting edge data-driven tech start-ups and scale-ups.

The Bayes Centre runs the Venture Builder and the Post Covid AI accelerator in collaboration with Edinburgh Innovations. Through programmes like these, in conjunction with EIE, the Bayes Centre expands one of the core pillars of its strategy: tech entrepreneurship.
